“And you see how great is the love of the Father towards us,
who has called us sons and made us (such).”
I JOHN (Yochanan) 3:1
What are Netzarim?
Nazarenes (En.) are the followers of Yeshua who live according to Torah and the Ketuvim Netzarim (writings of the Netzarim). Yeshua Mashiyach made a way for each one to receive the anointing of the Ruach HaKodesh (Set-Apart Spirit) and learn His Word according to the TeNaKh, (Torah -instructions in righteousness; Neviim -prophets; Ketuvim -writings) and Ketuvim Netzarim (writings of the Netzarim). We observe Torah as did Yeshua and His Talmidim (disciples). Netzari come from all manner of Christian, Jewish, Atheist, Eastern etc religious backgrounds to live according to the Faith of Yeshua. We follow an ancient and future calendar based on Torah. Torah (instruction in righteousness) is the authoritative Word of YHWH. For Netzarim the Good News or Gospel is the entire Bible. We regard Yeshua as Lawgiver and Teacher of all Righteousness.
We know Yeshua as the Arm of YHWH revealed, YHWH Tsidkenu, (Yahweh our Righteousness). Netzarim leaders are diligent followers, and are qualified according to Yeshua’s standards, not theological credentials or popularity contests. Leadership and authority is established by YHWH through a Beit Din (house of counsel/judges) comprised of three or more spiritually mature men in Yeshua who are equally vested in the Netzari community. Netzarim fellowship does not follow the hierarchical model of head rabbi or pastor, each soul in the congregation is considered as equal, not on “levels” but each one walks according to their gifts and anointing of the Ruach HaKodesh (Holy or Set-Apart Spirit). Y’shua instructed all men to not let themselves be called “leaders”, Matthew 23:10, clearly there are multitudes of religious “leaders” who are in willful violation.
Netzarim Believers choose to live in close proximity to each other and establish relationships based in Yeshua and Torah. We take care of our bodies as the “Temple of the Living Elohim” and do not make a habit of eating foods of Babylon. Netzarim are not dismayed or confounded with the worlds commercial system, or entertainment, or diversions into paganism. As Torah is written upon the hearts each one can differentiate between what right and wrong and become transformed, old things have passed away behold all things are become new. We study the Scriptures which directs us according to the Ancient Path and prophetic revelation for the days ahead. We trust in what Messiah Yeshua has done for us, His sacrifice makes atonement for transgression confessed before Him with a humble and contrite heart.
Netzarim Believers do not emphasize theology or doctrine as the standard of “Faith”, but righteous character and the action of true Faith. Torah observance by Faith is action demonstrating the anointing of the Ruach HaKodesh (Set Apart Spirit). If one says they have Faith, but has NO love for Torah, their Faith is vanity. The word “Netzarim” originates in Isaiah 11, the “netzer” or “sprout” which refers to the Kingdom of Elohim in Mashiyach.
Every Netzarim congregation is required to have a local Beit Din where three or more men are qualified to lead and counsel according to Torah.
The four basic Torah qualifications for leaders are in Sh’mot (Exodus) 18:21:
Upright men (no wimps)
Men of Truth
To these qualifications three more are added in Deuteronomy (D’varim) 1:13:
“Take to you men Chacham (wise) and Bin (understanding) and Yada (known) to your tribes; and I will make them rulers.”
This brings the total to seven qualifications.
In 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1, Paul counsels that men of leadership responsibility cannot be the husband of more than one wife, meaning also that if he has been married, divorced and remarried outside of a Beit Din he must be disqualified. A righteous divorce exonerates the innocent party for remarriage, therefore it must be judged by a Beit Din to be recognized as a legitimate divorce. Divorce and remarriage authorized by the state without Netzarim witnesses disqualifies a man from sitting on the Beit Din.
Men who purchase lottery tickets or participate in gambling are not qualified to sit on the Beit Din until refraining from such activity.
Men who obtain ill gotten gain or make income by oppressing others do not qualify to sit on a Beit Din.
Men who are in violation of any of Yeshua’s Commandments cannot sit on a Beit Din.
Men who have put away wives cannot sit on a Beit Din, (unless the divorce was because the wife committed adultery).
Each one on a Beit Din is as a servant of YHWH and must be helpful, loving, considerate and supportive toward all souls in the Body of Mashiyach. Each man must be willing to persevere, fast and pray as he inquires of YHWH. Each man must accept the decision of the majority vote of the Beit Din, or accept the casting of a lot, in the Name of YHWH. Each man must be transparent to the Beit Din in all personal matters, keep his vows, be of good reputation or voluntarily step down. Each man must consider it a joyful honor to participate on a Beit Din knowing that the Judgment belongs to YHWH. Each decision is given according to Righteousness, Faith and Mercy by Yeshua Mashiyach’s halacha as supplied by the Ruach HaKodesh.
Every Netzarim congregation must have a local Yeshiva (place of formal learning) which supplies open learning about the Malchut (Kingdom) Elohim teaching Torah and providing for the educational needs of the Body of Mashiyach. Yeshiva is a community effort, each one contributes “as he is able” to help refine and mature each soul. Throughout the week Yeshiva is a place to experience Yeshua, pray and wait on YHWH for His anointing. Yeshiva also provides and coordinates training for the talmidim to obtain a variety of skills according to the requirements of each unique student.
The Netzarim community in BC Canada has several cottage industries including organic agriculture, processing kosher food, alternative energy sources, and various industrial and commercial ventures for income based on co-operative values. Co-operatives may be based on barter, trade or currency transactions as required to establish equivalence of value. Each soul is provided the opportunity to create and retain individual wealth for personal needs. We are not a Kibbutz or Moshav but a Yeshuv (community). Each one owns and manages his property but benefits from the unique skills and efforts shared equally within the Body.
The Goals of the Community
Netzarim communities live according to the Masters’ prayer:
“Thy Kingdom come. Thy will be done. As in heaven so on earth.”
MATTHEW (Mattityahu) 6:10
The goal of community is to live each day in Y’shua and strengthen the Body so to advance the Kingdom of Elohim. The goal therefore is to be wise stewards, who utilize, equalize and harmonize our resources together as one Mishpocah (family).
We choose to be where YHWH places His Name.
